26-year-old Aengus McAllister from Malahide, who is currently living in Boston, is hoping to raise much needed funds for the American Liver Foundation by taking part in the upcoming Boston Marathon.
At the moment, Aengus is running up to 40 miles a week to prepare for his first ever marathon.
The money raised will go to directly helping people who suffer from life-threatening liver diseases. As a member of the American Liver Foundation’s Run for Research Team, Aengus is helping over 30 million Americans who suffer from liver disease.
Over 20,000 people from across the world will gather in Boston on Monday, 19th April 2010, to run the 26.2 miles of the most challenging marathon course in the world.
Aengus's weeks of rigorous training will take him from Hopkinton, Massachusetts, through the hills of Newton, and to the finish line in the heart of Boston.
A number of runners have been paired with individuals who are afflicted with liver disease, to emphasise their commitment to the cause.
